Description
Charles M. Talbot, (1904-1973), a graduate of Leavitt Institute in the class of 1922, became a well-known auctioneer throughout the state of Maine.
He was known for his humor during the auction. One time he saw a box marked, "Pieces of string too short to save," and sure enough the box was full of string pieces too short to save. He usually referred to a woman's handbag as, "an old bag."
He made the auction fun as well as educational and thus he became well known.
